EVAPCO SA Launches New CO2 Hybrid Condenser, Setting a New Standard for Industrial Refrigeration Efficiency

EVAPCO SA, a global leader in heat transfer solutions, is proud to announce the launch of its new CO2 Hybrid Condenser, engineered to meet the demanding needs of large tonnage industrial refrigeration systems.
Designed for subcritical CO2 (R744) applications, the hybrid unit delivers unmatched wet/dry performance while minimising water usage and eliminating visible plume in dry mode. The condenser offers working pressures up to 120 bar (dry coil) and 90 bar (wet coil), making it ideal for high-pressure operations. It seamlessly switches from dry to evaporative mode to maximize cooling capacity and efficiency. By reducing water consumption and sewage costs, the system supports both environmental goals and operational savings.

The CO2 Hybrid Condenser operates in dry mode to conserve water and eliminate visible plume until the temperature set point can no longer be maintained. In dry mode, no water is consumed, resulting in significant savings on water and sewage costs. When higher cooling is needed, the unit switches to evaporative mode, combining dry and evaporative cooling to boost capacity. CO2 (R744) is discharged into a dry coil located above the drift eliminators and below the fan section, where air is drawn in through bottom louvers. In evaporative mode, air passes through the wet coil and ARID fin Pak coil, efficiently transferring heat while minimizing plume and water loss.
